Inclusivity

We are all able to grow and learn better together within an inclusive and connected community. ASAM is committed to cultivating and preserving an accessible environment in which learners can participate and feel welcome.

Below is a list of current resources and services available to conference attendees; please let us know if there are alternative resources you would like us to explore to provide an equitable event experience.

Mutual Help

Held twice each day of the Conference, these peer-run addiction problem-specific support groups (eg, 12 Step, AA, NA) are open to any registrant.

Alcohol-Free Environment

ASAM does not serve alcoholic beverages or food items that use alcohol as an ingredient at any ASAM-sponsored activities.

Anti-Harassment Policies

Each attendee is required to agree to the terms and conditions of attendance upon registration, which mandate the highest standards of professional, respectful, ethical, inclusive, safe, and lawful conduct at the event and in ASAM's online communities. ASAM will take appropriate action to protect the safety and well-being of all participants.

Lactation Room

ASAM provides an on-site lactation room for nursing mothers. Please visit the ASAM Booth or Registration Desk for access information.

Dietary Accommodations

ASAM provides a wide array of menu options during each provided meal to ensure there are food items available for people with dietary restrictions. Attendees are asked to indicate dietary restrictions during the registration process to ensure ASAM orders appropriately. If you adhere to halal, kosher, or other dietary standard, please email meetings@asam.org.

All buffets throughout the conference will be labeled to indicate common allergens, gluten-free, vegan, vegetarian, or others as applicable.

Accessibility & Accommodations

To ensure our event is accessible and functional for people with the widest possible range of abilities, ASAM has provided the following:
To request an accommodation or for inquiries about accessibility, please email meetings@asam.org. Please note that every effort will be made to provide reasonable accommodations, but requests must be submitted at least 30 days in advance to allow time to secure services. If ASAM is unable to reasonably accommodate a specific request, we will work with you to determine whether an alternative arrangement can be made.

Sustainability

ASAM understands our responsibility to protect and preserve the local area and the wider environment. We are working with the venue and vendor partners to reduce our environmental impact and choosing more sustainable options whenever possible. Our strategy is continually evolving with input from our team, vendors, and attendees.
