Dr. Edmond Hakimi is dually board-certified in Internal Medicine and Addiction Medicine, having completed his fellowship training in Addiction Medicine at Brigham and Women’s Hospital - Harvard Medical School. He earned his Bachelor of Science degree with a major in Biology and a minor in Chemistry from St. John’s University in New York. Dr. Hakimi holds a Doctor of Osteopathic Medicine degree from the New York College of Osteopathic Medicine and completed his Internal Medicine residency at Stony Brook Southampton Hospital.
Specializing in the treatment of patients with severe substance-use disorders and co-occurring psychiatric diagnoses, Dr. Hakimi actively engages in clinical research to develop innovative treatments for these conditions. As the Medical Director at Wellbridge, his goal is to deliver exceptional care for individuals with substance-use disorders, providing comprehensive services such as Medication for Addiction Treatment, Cognitive Behavioral Therapy, Dialectical Behavior Therapy, and Motivational Interviewing.
Dr. Hakimi is also involved in academia, serving as faculty in the Department of Psychiatry at Brigham and Women’s Hospital and as a part-time instructor in psychiatry at Harvard Medical School. In these roles, he imparts knowledge on evidence-based treatment of substance use disorders to medical students, residents, and addiction medicine fellows.
Beyond his clinical and academic commitments, Dr. Hakimi dedicates his time to enhancing the lives of individuals in recovery from substance-use disorders. Notably, during his tenure at CN Guidance and Counseling Services, he played a key role in establishing Nassau County’s inaugural Mobile Addiction Recovery Treatment program. Additionally, he serves as the president of the Long Island Recovery Association, a nonprofit organization focused on dispelling negative perceptions of addiction through education and advocacy, while striving for full parity in treatment and recovery support services on demand.
