Many patients therapeutically dependent on long-term opioid therapy (LTOT) for chronic pain develop ineffectiveness without opioid use disorder (OUD), a condition described as due to complex persistent opioid dependence (CPOD). This talk will address the fundamental concepts of CPOD and how CPOD can result in an Opioid induced chronic pain syndrome that renders LTOT ineffective. The talk will also address evaluation for ineffective LTOT and its treatment based on the concepts of CPOD
