Co-occurring Disorders: Integrating Prevention, Intervention and Evidence

This symposium will delve into the complexities of co-occurring disorders and how SAMHSA's initiatives are expanding access to care and advancing upstream prevention. The discussion will explore the intersection of these disorders with homelessness and housing challenges, the ramifications of disrupted social determinants, and the integration of care for physical health conditions. By highlighting SAMHSA's comprehensive approach, this session aims to provide insights into effective strategies and policies for tackling co-occurring disorders in diverse populations.

Learning Objectives:

Learners will be able to:
  • Upon completion, participants will be able to describe the multifaceted nature of co-occurring disorders and their impact on individuals and communities.
  • Upon completion, participants will be able to define SAMHSA’s role and initiatives in addressing these disorders, including CCBHCs, ACEs/prevention, and integration of physical health care.
  • Upon completion, participants will be able to analyze the challenges and solutions related to housing and other social determinants in the context of co-occurring disorders.
