We will review relationships among opioid analgesia, dependence and addiction in DSM-IV and DSM-V, learning about different forms of opioid dependence and their significance. Attendees will learn how opioid reward links opioid analgesia, opioid dependence and opioid addiction. They will understand that the traditional separation of chronic pain and addiction services may not be appropriate.
