With the 2023 release of Motivational Interviewing: Helping People Change and Grow, Fourth Edition, busy clinicians will benefit from a brief, high yield review of core concepts and practice using key MI skills of listening and assessing response to MI consistent behaviors on the part of the clinician. During this interactive and skill building workshop, new and foundational concepts, including use of OARS and identifying change talk, will be reviewed with particular focus on practice applying these skills.

explain and understand how to use the spirit of MI.
identify and utilize MI micro-skills to facilitate a conversation with patients.
practice identifying change talk, and “coding” an MI encounter
