This talk will include high-yield clinically-focused discussion aimed at providing actionable content for people who treat patients with common co-occurring disorders. We will review common psychiatric approaches and emphasize practical applications for non-psychiatrist addiction providers including, diagnostics, psychopharmacology, and psychotherapeutic concepts. The program will be interactive to engage attendees in learning how to incorporate psychiatric assessment and treatment into their specific clinical contexts.

Learners will be able to:

Recognize and define common co-occurring psychiatric disorders in SUD treatment including the unique co-occurring contexts in which they can exist (e.g. methamphetamine use disorder and ADHD).
Utilize effective strategies for evaluation and diagnosis of patients with CODs and describe and implement evidence-based treatment strategies for common CODs.
Understand how to employ concepts from evidence-based psychotherapies and harm reduction psychotherapy concepts into their clinical conversations and guide referral to appropriate formal psychotherapies.
