Dr. Sonoda is an Assistant Professor at Saint Louis University School of Medicine. He serves as the Family Medicine Clerkship Instructor and the Addiction Medicine Fellowship Faculty. He completed his medical degree at the National Defense Medical Center in Japan, Family Medicine Residency (HIV Primary Care Track) at the University of Pittsburgh Medical Center (UPMC) Shadyside, and the Addiction Medicine Fellowship at UPMC. He also completed the Medical Education Faculty Development Program at the University of Pittsburgh. He serves as the Associate Editor of the Curbsiders Addiction Medicine Podcast and Midwest Society of Addiction Medicine Education Committee Chair. He has been board-certified in Family Medicine and Addiction Medicine and certified as the HIV Specialist by the American Academy of HIV Medicine.
