Patient with Lived Experience
n/a, Washington
Jenny Lau is a mother and woman in recovery with 6 years of continuous recovery. She started using opiates at 14 years old and spent most of her teens and twenties battling her addiction. In 2018, while pregnant, she went into an inpatient treatment facility specifically for pregnant women with Substance Use Disorder and found a care team that was compassionate and treated her with respect. By participating in ongoing compassionate care, her life began to flourish and she discovered a passion for helping others. Jenny hopes to use her story to help advocate for greater access to services and compassionate and trauma informed care for people with SUD.
