Dr. Caridad Ponce Martinez is Section Chief for Addiction Psychiatry and Program Director of the Addiction Psychiatry Fellowship at the UMass Chan Medical School. She holds an academic appointment as Assistant Professor in Psychiatry at the UMass School of Medicine. She is board certified by the American Board of Neurology and Psychiatry in General Psychiatry and Addiction Psychiatry. Dr. Ponce Martinez obtained her undergraduate degree in Psychology at Tufts University and completed medical school at the Escuela Autónoma de Ciencias Médicas de Centro América in Costa Rica. She completed her adult psychiatry residency training at the University of Virginia and fellowship training in Addiction Psychiatry at Yale School of Medicine. She joined the Department of Psychiatry at UMass in 2016. Her clinical and research interests include expanding access to treatment for substance use disorders in a variety of clinical settings.
